Why are Media Awards necessary?
The Yooralla Media Awards will provide an important opportunity to recognise and reward media coverage that contributes to public awareness and understanding of disability.
Its aim is to break down the stereotypes that for too long have caused hardship to people with disabilities, their families and carers.
This initiative is intended to raise awareness and improve the accuracy, quality and integrity of reporting about people with a disability, their achievements and the issues they face.
We aim to encourage greater community acceptance of people with a disability.
