Judging Panel

Five judges have been appointed to oversee the awards:

  Maree Curtis     Sanjib Roy
Maree Curtis

Maree Curtis is Director of Journalism Programs at Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology with 20 years experience as a print journalist working for state and national newspapers and magazines. After completing her cadetship at The Sun, Maree worked as a news reporter and editor at newspapers and magazines including Woman’s Day, Herald Sun, The Age, the Sunday Age and News Ltd’s Sunday Magazine. She joined the RMIT’s School of Applied Communication as a lecturer in 2004 and was appointed Director of Journalism Programs in 2007. 

  Sanjib Roy

Sanjib Roy was appointed CEO of Yooralla in September, 2008. Previously, he held senior positions with Victoria Police and various public sector organisations including the Departments of Treasury and Finance, Manufacturing and Industry Development, Transport, Human Services, The Port of Melbourne Authority and the Metropolitan Ambulance Service.

Rhonda Galbally

Dr Galbally is currently Chair of the National People with Disabilities and Carer Council, the Disability Advisory Council of Victoria, and the Royal Women’s Health Hospital and Patron of Compassionate Friends.  Dr Galbally is also the co-founding CEO of the groundbreaking web-based organisation, www.ourcommunity.com.au; the founding CEO of VicHealth and a former CEO of the Australian Commission for the Future.  In 1990 Rhonda was recognised with an Order of Australia for services to the community.

 

  Stella Young

Stella Young is very passionate about issues affecting people with a disability. She has worked for Arts Access, Victoria’s peak body for arts and disability/disadvantage and also in community television as a host of Australia’s first disability issues show, No Limits. She has been a member of the Victorian Disability Advisory Council and various other boards and committees in the disability sector. She currently works at Melbourne Museum developing programs for the Museum’s diverse range of visitors.

Alan Howe
